The Gift of A Horse Changed Her Life

Have you ever received something you considered ordinary that in reality turned out to be something extraordinary?  When in her 40's Kathleen Anthony received an Arabian mare as a gift from her father, she never dreamed that the experience would be so life changing. 

 In her book, Lessons in Grace, subtitled My Journey to Healing and Faith Through the Gift of a Horse, Kathleen shares how she thought she was training the horses, when in reality it was she who was being changed by working with horses.  She begins by sharing the many practical lessons and survival skills learned while growing up with an ornery Shetland pony.  Then, together with her cowboy husband, and her one-in-a-million Quarter Horse, their horses weren't just a hobby, they were a way of life.  From her heart, Kathleen finally reveals the eye-opening spiritual lessons experienced in working with her gift horse Arab with an attitude.  

 In her forties, while dealing with chronic health problems, and the resulting emotional distress, it seemed that Kathleen's eyes were opened as the Arabian became a mirror for her to see the condition of her own heart, and that it wasn't only the horse that had an attitude!   The resulting spiritual lessons brought growth, change and ultimate freedom as she learned that life is a continuing education process, much like training a horse  that life is a journey, and not a destination.

Once I started reading I could not stop.  My planned day fell to pieces, as I grew more and more absorbed.  As another woman who has been limping through life with the wind gone out of her sails and the fire gone from her spirit, I could relate. About the Author

Kathleen Anthony was born in 1952, and grew up as one of six children in Bear, Delaware.  She and her husband Carl live in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, where they continue to enjoy adventures together as they have since 1967.  A church secretarial position fills some of her time, but the true Kathleen emerges when she is doing anything outdoors or spending time with her family or animals.
